  • Cooking utensils
  • Oven
  • 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can (28 ounces crushed tomatoes)
  • 1 can (14 ounces diced tomatoes, drained)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Fresh parsley (chopped (for garnish))
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the San Giorgio lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them into crumbles. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the egg. Mix until well combined.
  6. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top.
  7. Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the lasagna.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve.
