  • Mixing bowls
  • Cooking utensils
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can 14 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the San Giorgio lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them into crumbles. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and the egg. Mix until well combined.
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top.
  • Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the lasagna.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve.
