Equipment

  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • A Ciplocked Bag
  • A Tong (to hold and flip the steak)
  • Digital Thermometer (to check doneness of steak)

Materials

  • 1 pound flat iron steak
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 tbsp. avocado oil
  • 6 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 6 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp. vinegar or lime juice
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp. fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp. crush rosemary
  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Instructions

  • Mixing all ingredients in a bowl
  • Pour batter in ziplocked bag, add steak, mix thoroughly and seal the bag
  • Refrigerate for at least half hour
  • Heat up cast iron skillet and place steak sear for 3-5 minutes on each side
  • Check doneness using an instant read thermometer
  • Cook & rest for 5 minutes under a foil

Notes

  1. Pat dry your steak with a kitchen towel before cooking. This step ensures a perfect searing-golden crust on the outer surface of the steak.
  2. Your steak must be at room temperature before cooking. It ensures even heat throughout the steak during cooking. You get a tender and well-cooked steak.
  3. Add some shredded cheddar cheese or parmesan cheese during the last two minutes of cooking of steak. This step makes this steak extra yum and tempting.
